NRK shows success stories from Norway’s new job matching platform

JANZZ.technology is the provider of the technology behind the semantic search and matching engine of the Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration’s (NAV) new job matching platform.

NAV’s digital job search platform, Arbeidsplassen.no, is now launched and endorsed by both job seekers and employers. NAV hopes it will now be easier for job seekers to find a new position.

Yusuf became a call center agent within a week. For him, taking a year off after high school also meant a gap in the CV, which turned out to be problematic when he was applying for a job again. Through NAV, he started work training, which would actively help open the door to the labor market. Arbeidsplassen.no was the solution for Yusuf. He got an interview and started as a call center agent the following week. For the recruitment company “Maskineriet”, NAV’s website has made it easier to find new employees. The recruiters search through NAV’s CV-database, find candidates and make further relations. The candidates may then be employed in a permanent position.

The managing director of Virke, the Enterprise Federation of Norway, praises the job search platform. Arbeidsplassen.no is seen as very important, as it connects companies’ needs and good candidates more efficiently. The fact that NAV is investing in digitization simplifies the recruitment process for companies.

On the job seeker side, the CV service has been significantly improved, thus candidates can more conveniently find the right job by using NAV’s platform. Candidates can now define and target the job search profile, and simultaneously apply to a wider range of available positions. The employers demonstrate positive feedback on both the candidate matching process and the platform Arbeidsplassen.no – which ultimately is important to NAV.

Paraguay’s job seekers can now find their job in a completely new way. The Minister of Labor, Carla Bacigalupo, and the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez, launched Paraguay’s new official job platform, “ParaEmpleo”, in Asunción this Thursday. Stefan Winzenried, CEO and founder of JANZZ.technology, and Diego Rico, vice president and project manager LATAM, travelled all the way from Switzerland to participate in the official launch event for the platform developed by their company.

On the platform jobseekers are easily matched to the best job in terms of their skills, experience, industries, etc., depending on relevant matching algorithms and a knowledge graph with deep knowledge of occupation data. In this way, placement in the labor market becomes much more efficient.

The Minister of Labor, Carla Bacigalupo, stated that it will be an important challenge to educate people on using the tool across the whole country, also reaching the young people in the rural areas. In addition, she explained the meaning with the tool: “With this, we intend to achieve the major objective that we propose in all the politics that we have planned: to improve the living conditions of Paraguayan citizens and our workers”.

As part of the event, the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez, also officially formed a country team to reduce the figures of labor informality, which is around 65% in total. 7 out of 10 women, 9 out of 10 young people and 7 out of 10 older adults work informally. The central aim of the team will be to develop formalization guidelines that provide practical solutions and progress in the transition to formality. Also, the platform might already be a first step on the way.

The platform project is carried out within the framework of the Programa de Apoyo a la Inserción Laboral (PAIL) financed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) under a loan agreement with the Republic of Paraguay. It will be a role model for other South American countries for which the IDB may finance similar projects.

Real Insights Into the Future of Work

The two-day conference in Washington, resulted in many interesting discussions on the future of work. The conference held on the 27th and 28th of November 2018 presented many different opportunities in how to use modern technologies in environment of labor markets, such as Blockchain, artificial intelligence and machine learning. The event, organized by the Inter-American Development Bank and the MIT media lab, was attended by high-ranking specialists from private companies, public organizations and universities from all over the world. Stefan Winzenried, CEO and founder, and Diego Rico, Vice President and Project Manager LATAM, were pleased to represent JANZZ.technology at the conference.

The goal of the partial event on the topic “Artificial Intelligence and Matching algorithms for employment switching” was to introduce different systems of the intelligent matchings with AI between job seekers and job offers. Cristina Pombo, Senior Consultant in the Social Sector Department of the IDB, moderated the event, in which Stefan Winzenried, in addition to a representative of WCC, answered questions from the plenum and explained suggestions about the practical implementation, as well as the challenges and possibilities of semantic, transparent and largely non-discriminatory matching. In particular, it was made clear how potential prejudices and/or unequal treatment in technological recruiting can be prevented at an early stage and which are the most important opportunities that such technologies open up for the future.

Diego Rico presented the new tools that are available for labor market analysis using the JANZZ white label platform for Paraguay, «ParaEmpleo». The aim of the event was to show advanced, meaningful and easy-to-use ways to better inform stakeholders in the labor market.

The JANZZ team focused in wrapping up the tech and research talks into practical uses cases from the current project in Paraguay. The discussion focused on the different strategies, policies and insights that could be retrieved in the LATAM region in a structured and rich form. The participation of the team ended with a meaningful analysis about the past and present challenges within the project, as well as the feasibility to reproduce it in different LATAM countries.

A technological tool will bring SNPP course graduates and job opportunities together

This morning, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security (Ministerio de Trabajo, Empleo y Seguridad Social (MTESS)) developed in the auditorium of the National Service for Professional Promotion (Servicio Nacional de Promoción Profesional SNPP), the Seminar of Platforms for Insertion Programs, led by Diego Rico, coordinator of the technological platform JANZZ.Jobs, which will be soon implemented by MTESS and whose function is to bring people, companies and jobs together with skills, competencies and experience which exactly meet the employment requirements.

The Minister of Labour, Carla Bacigalupo, was in charge of the seminar’s opening, which was attended by directors of MTESS, SNPP and Sinafocal, as well as instructors from the training entity.

The Minister expressed about it: “we are inaugurating a process of educational transformation in Paraguay and MTESS through SNPP and Sinafocal are part of it. Our goal is educational quality.

This process of educational transformation supposes great challenges. We would like to start with three very important systems that we want to introduce in all our training centers: a quality management system, a system of orientation courses according to the employment demand of each department and a real employment intermediation system that links our graduates with a job opportunity, not only in a dependency relationship, we would also like to promote entrepreneurship.

All of this is going to require operative changes, but it is a necessary big step in order to provide opportunities to our young people. Aiming for better educational quality may mean, that we will have a lower number of graduates per year, but on the other hand, we will be able to measure the performance of our instructors, by the quality of our graduates, by how many are working and by the number of entrepreneurs. That is the change we are promoting here and we would like to invite you all, to be part of it”

The Minister Bacigalupo mentioned that the JANZZ System will be officially launched by the MTESS before the end of the year and this will take place with the presence of the President Mario Abdo Benitez. “This tool will connect graduates with effective job opportunities. We want to create new opportunities in each department. We have foreign investment, a lot of work in the road construction is coming, that is why we want to instruct skilled workers in each part of the country. In this way is not necessary for people to leave their families, in order to get a job in a distant place”.

The coordinator of the platform, Diego Rico emphasized that this tool is currently used in the most developed countries. In a short period, a similar tool will be launched in Norway. This will be the first time in Latin America, in our country, through the management of MTESS. Mr. Rico made a presentation about the features of the technology and then provided training to SNPP instructors.

Easy-to-use technology to facilitate access to employment…

…Increases opportunities for good employment, especially for the most vulnerable sectors, using the most advanced technology in the region. In the vast world of technology applied to job search, Paraguay stands out because it will soon be launching a program based on Artificial Intelligence, capable of matching profiles of job seekers with companies that are requiring them.

Different to other programs, however, “JANZZon!” is a software that learns more about the jobs and skills required, the more information it receives.

Effective, efficient and equipped with all security requirements, “JANZZon!” is the powerful tool that Paraguay’s public employment services will use to facilitate job searches. With it, the Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Security Carla Bacigalupo pointed out: “Job seekers especially those from the most vulnerable areas and sectors, as well as companies and all actors in the labor market will benefit from it”, in the framework of the Strategic Dialogue on the Pillars of Development of Paraguay organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Minister Bacigalupo also insisted on the need to align job training more precisely with the demands of companies. She said: “To accomplish this, we will strengthen the capacity to control and supervise the quality of the courses”.

She also said that modern methods such as the MOPADUAL (Paraguayan Model of Dual Learning) will be strengthened, offering employers incentives, even legal if necessary, so that more companies actively participate in the development of these strategies.

Furthermore, she highlighted the first steps towards the coordination of education and training policies with the projects of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and the development of infrastructure promoted by the Ministry of Public Works and Communications.

JANZZ.technology is developing the first digital public employment platform in South America

JANZZ.technology has landed a contract for the first digital public employment platform in South America with Paraguay.

The InterAmerican Development Bank (IDB), collaborating with the local government, is bringing its recruitment process in Paraguay into the Digital Age with the help of JANZZ.technology.

According to the minister of labor, Mr. Guillermo Sosa, this software will bring transparency and efficiency to the recruitment processes, in which a job seeker can now drop his paper CV and instead access the system to create a digital profile. This means there won’t be any more vague or incorrect matching to their job searches.

The platform, called ParaEmpleo, helps candidates and companies to enrich their professional profiles and job descriptions for all players in the labor market. Private companies, job aggregators, self-service users and non-digital users, all together will profit from the software and matching engine that creates relevant job matches amongst different occupations despite the use of business jargon, acronyms, etc.

JANZZ.technology is currently fine tuning the final adaptations for the Paraguayan labor market to deploy the first draft of the platform and run the first test at the end of the month.

Mr Sosa remarked that the result from this process will be:

In the first place, provide relevant employment opportunities that can fulfill both the employer’s and the candidate’s expectations. Secondly, it will help both parties to understand the existing gaps, promoting better education adjustments on the government side and help land the employer’s expectations about the current reality of the labor market.
